Visit to Lanark Hydrotherapy Pool

Senior Care Assistant with Resident in Swimming Pool

Two of the ladies at Beechgrove accompanied by some of the team visited the Hydrotherapy Pool at South Lanarkshire Leisure & Culture Centre Last Week. The ladies thoroughly enjoyed the session and this brought back lots of memories of when they took their kids swimming.

Both loved being able to relax in warm water and enjoyed the jacuzzi effect. This was also a great way for our residents to carry out an exercise activity with ease while relaxing their muscles.

The hydrotherapy pool has been designed so that residents can get in and out of the pool with ease, with a hoist available as well as steps.

The Benefits of Hydrotherapy

  • Improves and maintains the range of joint movement
  • Aids in muscle relaxation
  • Helps to relieve pain
  • Reduces the pressure on weight-bearing joints while exercising
  • Facilitates rehabilitation

Those with conditions such as arthritis, muscular dystrophy, MS, cerebral palsy, and autism as well as people recovering from a stroke or surgery will benefit from hydrotherapy sessions.

The heated pool can also be used to improve the quality of life of individuals with physical or mental disabilities, allowing them to partake in gentle exercise.

We have booked the pool for the next few weeks and hope to keep this as a weekly activity for our residents. We look forward to bringing more residents to the Hydrotherapy Pool in the upcoming weeks.
