Lanark Men’s Shed Visits Beechgrove

Residents Listening to Live Music

Lanark’s Men Shed teamed up with Tesco to entertain our residents with their fantastic music, followed by an afternoon tea thanks to the generosity of Tesco who supplied wonderful cakes and biscuits.

The volunteers at the Men’s Shed are getting to know our residents during their visits to Beechgrove, carrying out some of their activities and workshops in the comfort of our home. We all had a great afternoon and look forward to the next visit to the home. After Christmas, we will also look to organise a trip to Lanark Men’s Shed for our gentleman residents.

The concept of Men’s Sheds originated in Australia in 1997, and is now worldwide. Lanark’s own Men's Shed started in October 2021 with one container and 5 members.

With grant assistance from VASLan and the National Lottery Community Fund, Lanark Men's Shed has now grown to three containers and 30-plus members. Their wide range of activities includes woodwork sessions, guitar playing, writing and walking groups with plans to organise a book and camera club as well as monthly games and quiz afternoons.

Our male residents will be getting involved in some of the activities on offer to learn and share new skills or to just sit and chat over a cup of tea or coffee, enjoy a change of scenery, be active or simply relax.

For more information on what the Lanak Men's Shed entails, or if you have any questions regarding Beechgrove residential care home in Lanark, contact our team today and we will be happy to assist you.
