Chinese New Year Celebrations
Recently, here at Beechgrove Care Home, we arranged some Chinese New Year celebrations for our residents, they took part in various activities, all with different themes throughout the week, from arts and crafts in creating Chinese lanterns and dragons, food tasting and of course, a traditional dragon dance with the help of some little ones from our local nursery.
Our residents loved taking part in all of these activities, especially when it came to doing some research around the Chinese Zodiac Animals from the year that they were born; all linked to their personality traits.
As some of you may know, Chinese New Year is the most important event within the Chinese calendar and during this period, it's all about friends and family members getting together for a wonderful time celebrating, catching up, meeting any new additions to the family and paying respects to their elderly. It's highly important for our residents to feel included in the community, we want to ensure that their emotions and beliefs are validated, helping them build their self-esteem and confidence.
All of these activities for the Chinese New Year were an opportunity for our residents to maintain social contact with the community, for them to feel included, nurturing a positive environment, where they achieve pleasure in all tasks. This is something we focus on when it comes to fun activities and opportunities, if you'd like to take a closer look at what we plan for our residents, head over to our Activities Programme page where you can see that our dedicated team at our care home near Hamilton works hard to provide a variety of options so that residents have all they need to live a full and varied life.
