A Relaxing Pyjama Day and Quiz Night
At Beechgrove Care Home in Lanark, we recently hosted a fantastic Pyjama Day and Quiz Afternoon, where residents, families, and staff came together for a day filled with laughter and fun. The event brought an extra dose of warmth and joy to everyone’s day, with games and treats – all while raising funds for our residents’ activities.
The day began with a cheerful sight as staff turned up on shift in their comfiest pyjamas, setting a relaxed and playful tone right from the start. Residents joined in the fun too, along with family members who arrived sporting their own colourful and cosy pyjamas. The beaming smiles on everyone’s faces showed how much this simple gesture lifted the mood and created a shared sense of togetherness.
In our beautifully decorated lounge, tables were laden with a tempting array of snacks and refreshments. A spread of sandwiches, sweet treats, and cold drinks ensured there was something for everyone. A plate piled high with freshly made rolls, cakes, and biscuits added to the feeling of a special occasion. It was wonderful to see residents relaxing at the tables with loved ones, enjoying their tea and treats together.
The fun activities began with a hilarious “What’s in the Box?” challenge, staff members bravely stepped up, blindfolded with adorable animal masks, and reached into mystery boxes to guess what was inside. As one participant felt around with a bit of a worried look, the room erupted into laughter at their expressions and guesses. These moments brought so much energy and amusement to the day, making it an instant highlight.
Next, the focus turned to our team quiz competition, where residents, families, and staff worked together to test their knowledge. With everyone huddled in groups, the room buzzed with excitement and friendly rivalry as teams tried to outwit each other. It was heartening to see so many residents fully engaged, sharing answers, and working together with their families. The photos show residents smiling and laughing side by side with loved ones, creating memories that will stay with us for a long time.
Adding to the fun, we enjoyed a toilet roll “mummy” challenge, which had everyone in stitches. Someone was enthusiastically wrapped from head to toe in toilet paper, transformed into the perfect “mummy,” while others watched with amusement. It was wonderful to see everyone getting involved, whether wrapping, cheering, or posing for photos. The laughter that echoed through the room reminded us all of the power of shared silliness and simple games to create joy.
The day continued with even more smiles as staff members and family members sat with residents, sharing tea and conversation in quieter moments. Whether it was through games, chats, or the sharing of refreshments, everyone found a way to connect and enjoy the day.
One of the most memorable photos of the day captures the entire team – staff, residents, and family members – gathered together, smiling and laughing in their pyjamas. This moment perfectly sums up what the day was all about: community, comfort, and joy.
Beyond the fun, our Pyjama Day served an important purpose. The event successfully raised a small amount of money for our residents’ fund, which will help us organise even more activities, events, and outings in the future.
At Beechgrove Care Home, we know that it’s moments like these that make life truly special.
