What’s Local to Beechgrove Care Home?

Beechgrove Care Home is situated on the edge of Lanark, surrounded by some of Scotland’s most beautiful countryside and famous landmarks. Lanark itself presents residents with an abundance of things to do and different ways to spend their days. A family enjoying a scenic walk

For family days out, Lanark holds a variety of options including Langloch Farm. The Farm has treats for everyone, from a natural play area for the youngest visitor to a cosy tearoom and gift shop for those looking for a more indulgent visit. Accessible by car in under 10 minutes, Langloch Farm is a popular destination amongst our residents and their loved ones. Other family attractions include Lanark Loch where there is a selection of activities to keep everyone entertained. Through the summer months visitors can enjoy the loch side grass areas to relax while the children play within the play park as well as making use of the other small rides and minigolf.

Lanarkshire is also home to one of Scotland’s 6 UNESCO World Heritage Sites, New Lanark. New Lanark is a former 18th-century cotton spinning mill village located on the banks of the Falls of Clyde. “New Lanark is an exceptional example of a purpose-built 18th-century mill village. Thanks to an ongoing process of conservation and rehabilitation spanning almost half a century, the appearance of the village today is close to that of the early nineteenth century, when the mill buildings formed one of the largest industrial groups in the world.” This outstanding tourist spot is ideal for anything from a visit for an hour or two, through to a full day; visitors can walk up the Falls of Clyde after visiting the Visitor Attraction and indulging in New Lanark Pizza with a visit to the Natural Play & Picnic Area to finish the day.

The Falls of Clyde is also the start of the walkway following the River Clyde. The River Clyde is the ninth longest river in the United Kingdom, and the third longest in Scotland. This route offers stunning views and perfect photo opportunities. Beautiful scenery, intriguing history, wonderful eateries and distinctive landmarks such as the New Lanark World Heritage Site can all be found in Lanark. Both major cities (Glasgow and Edinburgh), Loch Lomond, the Scottish Borders and the West Coast are all within an hour’s drive. Whatever interests our residents and their loved ones, Lanark offers something for everyone.
